It was a Saturday night full of flips, dips and splits at the Clarion Resort as Victim Services of Nipissing District (VCARS) hosted their star studded fundraising event 'Dancing with the Stars'.

After weeks of practice that brought pains, strains and blisters six celebrity dancers; Carolle Dionne (OPP), Chris Mayne (City Council), Jean Lemieux (Crime Stoppers), Jessie Webster (North Bay Jail), Lise Leblanc (West Nipissing Hospital) and Steve Brown (North Bay Police) hit the dance floor to compete for the mirror ball trophy and bragging rights as Nipissing District’s Best Dancer.

Each couple, made up of one professional dancer and one 'celebrity' dancer, faced Judges Yvon Montcalm, Jocelyn Bell and Marg McDiarmid, and the toughest judge of all the audience.

In the end Lise Leblanc and her partner Arron Jeanneault dazzled the judges and audience taking first place. OPP Officer Carolle Dionne and her pro partner Derek Brown secured second spot with Crime Stoppers' Jean Lemieux and partner Tara Vaillancourt placing third.

The event was a huge hit for event coordinators and participants alike and the buzz at the end of the evening is 'season two'.

All proceeds from the event go to assisting victims of crime and tragic circumstances in North Bay, Mattawa and Sturgeon Falls.
