Hewgill's Basement Burgers
News Release

*******************

The newest in a line of Canadore College student owned restaurants is now open. Hewgill’s Basement Burgers is the final class project for nine hospitality students.

The students are in charge of everything from the cooking and serving, to financially backing the business. The entire menu, prices, and safety policies were developed by the students.

“It’s scary but exciting” says co-owner Cassandra Douglas. “We had to apply everything we knew ourselves.”

This has been an on-going project since September. Co-owner Adrienne Tyndall says the students are excited to have “taken a concept and put it to life.”

Hewgill’s Basement Burgers will be open for the next eight weeks every Thursday night from 4:30 to 8:30. The menu offers a selection of gourmet burgers ranging in price from $6.99 – $11.99.

The students plan to donate 50 per cent of the proceeds to the Haiti relief fund.
