Chippewa Intermediate / Secondary School students raised $3500 with the ‘Raiders for Haiti’ concert which will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross to help the Haitian people rebuild and provide much needed medical aid.
Raiders demonstrated wonderful talents, and their sincerity in their willingness to help during the relief concert they held on Thurs Feb. 4th.

The concert included solo and group dance performances by the Raider Dance Company, with some performances choreographed by the students themselves. The evening also included performances by the Chippewa Senior band and the Raiders Jazz band. Student Rachel Fung, presented her own experiences from a medical mission in Peru she was involved in. The presentation gave the evening amore personal feel. Raider students also contributed by creating drama skits and poems like ‘Hello, it’s Haiti calling’, although it drew laughs from the audience the reality was staggeringly poignant. There were presentations that displayed images of the earthquake torn Haiti. The Volunteer Now students ran a bake sale and the art students kindly donated their artwork towards a silent auction, which brought in over $300.

The community was very generous in their donations and in return received a wonderful evening of entertainment. Chippewa Raiders would like to thank the community and other fellow raiders for their help in making this evening a success. We believe that even small efforts can make a big impact on the world.
