Fatal snowmobile collision under investigation

McMurrich/Monteith Twp. - On Sunday the 7th of February 2010 at about 11:55 am., four snowmobiles were travelling on the OFSC “D” trail between Axe Lake and Yearley Road in McMurrich/Monteith Township. The rear snowmobile crested a hill, lost control and struck a tree. The operator of this snowmobile suffered fatal injuries.

At the scene of this fatal collision were Almaguin OPP, paramedics, Sprucedale Fire Department, North Bay Technical Traffic Collision Investigative Unit and the North Bay Forensics Unit.

This occurrence is under the investigation of Cst Karsten Theiling of the Almaguin Highlands OPP.
