Paul Mitchell of Mitchell Architects, Brenda Loubert Cassellholme Administrator, Nipissing MPP Monique Smith and Cassellholme Board Chair Dave Mendicino are all smiles following the announcement that the long term facility is about to undergo redevelopment.

The staff and residents of Cassellholme received great news Friday as Nipissing MPP Monique Smith announced that the long term facility is about to get a substantial facelift.

The announcement is part of a province-wide program designed to address the changing needs of Ontario's aging population. Smith says the redevelopment stems from the extensive report she worked on during her 4 year role as Parliamentary Assistant to then Minister of Health George Smitherman.

Paul Mitchell of Mitchell Architects says the project will improve living for residents and hopes that shovels will be in the ground by Spring 2011. He notes that the redevelopment will take about three years for completion as it will be done in phases in order not to disrupt residents to a great degree.

Smith says the numbers at this point are not firm and that the structure of financing will be hammered out over the next several months.

Meanwhile, Cassellholme Board Chair Dave Mendicino welcomed the news saying the changes will only help increase the standard of living for current and future generations.
