Mattawa fire under investigation

Mattawa OPP responded to a suspicious fire on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 shortly after 10 p.m. on Highway 17 east of Mattawa in Papineau-Cameron Township. The abandoned residence was fully engulfed upon police arrival. Papineau-Cameron Fire Department attended as well as the Office of the Fire Marshall. Traffic on Highway 17 was reduced to one lane.

The fire is believed to be suspicious as there was no source of power or heat to the property. The investigation is ongoing.
