The community has rallied to help the earthquake victims in Haiti which killed more than 100 thousand people and leading the way are the area schools at at every level and across all four boards.

This week the kids at Marshall Park Public School joined in and raised more than $1,600 for the Haitian disaster relief.

The fundraising has been totally kid driven and to spur on their efforts Dave Dufour's grade 4/5 class devised a plan that challenged teacher Ian Mizzi and D.A.R.E. Police Officer Aaron Northrup to shave their heads during an assembly if the students raised at least a thousand dollars.

The assembly was full of enthusiasm for this public shaving for a very, very worthy cause with the funds delivered to the Red Cross to help out Haiti.
