Hospital lifts visitor restrictions but 4 West remains closed

Today the North Bay General Hospital has lifted the visitor restrictions to the Scollard Site, with the exception of 4West due to the gastro outbreak.

Gastro intestinal illness tends to travel very quickly and affect a large number of people at the same time, which is why the hospital has decided to continue to restrict visitors on this unit to protect patients, staff and the public from further transmission. At present, ten patients and four staff continue to exhibit signs and symptoms of gastro illness.

There has been no further MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) activity on the 6th floor, but we will continue to monitor patients. The visitor restrictions on that unit have been lifted.

The hospital continues to encourage those who are unwell not to visit.
