71-years-old charged with fail to yield to traffic

Powassan OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision this morning at approximately 7:50 a.m. on Highway 11, north of Powassan, Ontario involving a school bus.

On January 22nd, 2010, a school bus which was transporting children at the time was travelling eastbound crossing Highway 11 at Peever Line and Golf Course Road when a 2009 Pontiac Torrent travelling north bound on Highway 11 collided with the rear passenger corner.

The driver of the Pontiac suffered minor injuries. None of the occupants on the school bus suffered any injuries. Within minutes another school bus attended the scene where the children were transferred.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the school bus, Lyla LAVIGNE, 71 years old was charged with Fail to Yield to Traffic on Through Highway as per s. 136(1)(b) of the Highway Traffic Act.
