Prospective immigrants to Canada now have access to everything they need to know about North Bay at the click of a mouse, wherever they are in the world.

The City of North Bay’s Immigration Portal will play an essential role in assisting individuals during every stage of the immigration process. This new tool will provide access to support and resources that are specific to North Bay and area and will complement the City’s existing Immigration Attraction and Retention programs.

"We're extremely pleased to launch the next stage of our Immigration Strategy.  This Portal will be the world's window into North Bay, and they're going to be very pleased with what they see", said North Bay Mayor Victor Fedeli.  He added, "A successful immigration strategy is key to our future economic development plans, as we will need trained people to fill in the mass retirement of the baby-boomers".

“Ontario needs the skills and talents of newcomers to build a strong economy,” said Michael Chan, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration. “This website will help attract talent and investment to North Bay.”

“I am pleased that the Ontario Government could support the City of North Bay and the North Bay Newcomer Network in creating this important tool,” said Monique Smith, MPP for Nipissing

The portal’s official launch will take place at 11:30 a.m. on January 11, 2010 at the Best Western Hotel and Conference Centre, 700 Lakeshore Drive in North Bay.
