Near North Board welcomes Olympic Flame

The Olympic Torch is coming to our district, and the staff and students of the Near North District School Board are thrilled to take part in the celebration!

The board has several individuals participating in the relay. From carrying the Torch, to lighting the cauldron, to performing at the official community celebration, staff and students from across the board will share in this historic event.

Among those participating:

• Helen Gobby - King George Kodiac Choir & the Inerlink choir under the direction of Helen Gobby
• Alison Herst-Jackson - Teacher
• Nicholas Fung – Student
• Sean Davis – Student
• Briana LeBlond - Student
• Wiston Smith Badger – Student
• Widdifield Secondary School choir under the direction of teacher Lynne Smythe

The Near North District School Board would like to congratulate our staff and students as they take part of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay, the longest Torch relay in history to be contained within the Host Country.
