Nipissing University is proud to announce that Dr. John Nadeau, assistant professor of marketing, recently won the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Destination Branding and Marketing in Macau, China.

The award-winning paper is co-authored by Norm O’Reilly from Syracuse University and Stanford University, and Louise Heslop from Carleton University, as well as Nadeau. Titled China’s Olympic Destination: Beijing Tourist Evaluations of China and the 2008 Games, the paper reports on the views that tourists in China have about the country and its people, the country as a destination and the Olympic Games. Responses were gathered during the 2008 Olympic Summer Games in Beijing, China.

“This is an important accomplishment for me and the co-authors because it is a high-profile international conference,” said Nadeau. “The papers that we were competing with are all extremely high calibre papers written by destination branding experts, and it is deeply rewarding to be recognized among that group.”

“The university is very proud of Dr. Nadeau’s accomplishment,” said Errol Aspevig, vice-president academic and research at Nipissing. “This award is a recognition of his expertise, and that of his co-authors, as well as a testament to the quality of the faculty here at Nipissing and the research in which they participate and lead.”
