At their annual organization meeting held on December 15, the trustees of Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord re-elected Ronald Demers as chairperson and Mona Lessard Morton as vice-chairperson of the board. This is a sixth mandate for both trustees.

Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord is comprised of six elected members and three student trustees who, together, oversee the governance of the Catholic French-language schools in the District of Nipissing. The other members of the board are Diane Corriveau, Stéphan Poulin, François Rivet and Roland Rochon. The student trustees are Scott Hunter of École secondaire catholique Algonquin, Danielle Perreault of École secondaire F.J. McElligott, and Jérôme Courchesne of École secondaire Franco-Cité.

Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord operates 17 Catholic French-language schools, 14 elementary and 3 secondary. More than 3,300 students attend its schools which are located in Astorville, Bonfield, Mattawa, North Bay, River Valley, Sturgeon Falls, Thorne, and Verner. Many of these students are holders of French-language rights who did not speak French when they started school, but are now fluent in both of Canada’s official languages.
