A Tribute To Life

Christmas comes early for Canadore students.

At Monday night’s regular meeting City council passed a motion that will see them work with Canadore College to give all students a City transit pass – much like the arrangement Nipissing students already have.

However, students will see an increase of $181.00 to their tuition, a figure which pales in comparison to the $65 per month, or $220 per semester students are currently paying.

“It’s a win-win situation,” Councillor Mike Anthony said of the agreement. “The students will have a great deal on transit throughout the year for one flat fee, and it covers our costs…we’re able to assist the school.”

For the past 7 years Canadore has had a similar understanding with the city, but only for the College’s 500 or so students who live on residence.

“Canadore approached us with an agreement so they can have it for every student,” Anthony said. “So now instead of just 500 students, it’ll be for all 2600.”
