OPP News Release

********************

Notman Township – North Bay OPP received a call from North Bay Air Traffic Control shortly after 1:30 p.m. this afternoon requesting the assistance of the OPP in regards to a plane making an emergency landing on Highway 11, approximately 20 kilometres north of North Bay.

The two male occupants had detected a technical difficulty that required immediate attention as they were losing fuel. The plane, a 1997 Rans 57 Courier, single engine advanced ultralight, managed a successful landing just south of Tilden Lake on Highway 11. The problem was subsequently fixed at the roadside.

After consultation with Transport Canada, OPP officers closed the highway allowing the plane to take off again and proceed to the North Bay Airport safely.
