The Ontario PC Caucus today unanimously walked out of Question Period to protest the McGuinty Government's attempt to ram through their record-breaking HST tax grab without first allowing for public consultations throughout Ontario.

Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak is currently doing the job that Dalton McGuinty should be doing by traveling throughout Ontario to hear the concerns of the middle class families, seniors and small businesses who have the most to lose from Dalton McGuinty's $3 billion HST tax grab.

QUOTES

"This government has become trapped in a bubble of special interests and completely cut itself off from the vulnerable Ontario families who will be hurt the most by the HST. We cannot, in good conscience, legitimize their attempt to escape accountability" -- Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak

"Once upon a time Dalton McGuinty claimed that public hearings were an example of high democratic principle. By isolating himself from the public, he is proving that he is not the same guy people thought they were voting for six years ago." -- Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak

Dalton McGuinty on Public Hearings (Hansard, December 6, 1999)

"Public hearings; those two words go together nicely if you believe in true democracy."
