McIntyre Street man faces 51 charges

Between the months of May and Sept. 2009, the North Bay Police Service became aware of a local individual using an assumed identity.

It is alleged that the name Ketan PATEL was being used to enter and then reside in Canada. It is further alleged that this individual then opened a business with this same false identity.

Our Criminal Investigation Section commenced an investigation into this matter and it involved numerous other enforcement agencies. They include the Ontario Provincial Police, the Canadian Border Protection Agency, the Canadian Immigration Services as well as the United States Customs and border protection Agency and Interpol.
This investigation recently culminated in the following charges against one Bharet Kumar PATEL, 41 years old formerly of McIntyre St. W. of North Bay.

They include a total of 51 charges as follows:
13 counts of Personation with Intent
13 counts of uttering a Forged Document
13 counts of Drawing a Document without Authority
8 counts of False Pretences
3 counts of False Registration Fraud.

He remains in custody on other related criminal matters and is awaiting on these new charges.
