Central Ambulance Communications Centre staff and community partners gather for the opeining of the new state of the art facility on Ferris Drive Friday. Construction for the building took just 9 months.

The management and staff with the Central Ambulance Communications Centre had the opportunity to view their new digs on Friday as they officially launched the brand new $3-million state of the art facility on Ferris Drive.

Manager Marc Picard says the move will take place on December 1st and the new building allows room for future growth, as it is double the size of the old Scollard hospital site with training/conference room along with locker rooms and a kitchen space.

“It’s going to help the staff dealing in a very stressful situation and having state of the art equipment and a great work environment makes the job that much easier,” states Picard.

“On average we do 30,000 calls a year and of course in any emergency time is of the essence so this state of the art equipment, so this state of the art equipment helps the communicators who do a very professional job on a day in and day out basis and it just gives them that extra edge to help cut off the important seconds.”
