To respond to questions about the mumps outbreak and H1N1, the Health Unit will open their Call Centre from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8.

You can talk directly to Health Unit staff by calling 474-1400 or 1-800-563-2808 on the weekend during those hours. You can also call Telehealth, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-866-797-0000.

The Health Unit reminds anyone with the following mumps symptoms to contact their health care provider immediately:

• fever
• swelling and tenderness of the salivary glands
• headache
• cold-like symptoms
• men may have swollen and tender testicles

H1N1 clinics are postponed until further notice. H1N1 vaccine is available from some physicians’ offices.
