The North Bay Police in conjunction with the Ministry of Transportation conducted a one day safety lane blitz on Tuesday the 27 Oct 2009 at North Bay Police Headquarters.

The mini project named “Klunker” saw 26 vehicles checked. Officers had given out inspection report notices over a four week period prior to the 27 Oct 09.

Eleven vehicles had their plates removed and were taken off of the road. Eight owners opted to bring in their plates and had the vehicles registered as unfit.

Five owners were given 3 day report notices to have defects repaired.

One owner was charged and one vehicle passed the MTO inspections and was deemed still road worthy.

This project enforces the North Bay Police Service and Ministry of Transportation’s community commitment to road safety. Owners are reminded that it is their responsibility to properly maintain vehicles for everyone’s safety.
