Vehicle collision leads to drug charges

Bonfield Township – North Bay OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Sunday, October 25th, 2009 shortly after 8 p.m. on Highway 17, Bonfield Township.

The vehicle was travelling westbound when it crossed the centre line continued into the eastbound ditch hitting a rock cut. Bonfield Fire Department and passers-by from CFB North Bay and CFB Petawawa provided assistance. Both occupants suffered injuries and were transported by North Bay Ambulance Service to the North Bay General Hospital where they were treated.

Further investigation revealed a bag containing over 130 g of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $13,000. Charged is the driver, Justin Robert BURR, 25 years old of Timmins, Ontario with:
• Possession Schedule I – Cocaine as per Controlled Drug and Substance Act s.4(1);
• Possession for the Purpose Schedule I – Cocaine as per CDSA 5(2); and
• Careless driving as per Highway Traffic Act, s.130.

BURR is scheduled to appear in North Bay for court on December 8, 2009 in relations to his drug charges.
