OPP warn public to stay away from pipeline rupture scene

Temiskaming, ON – On September 26th, 2009 at approximately 1:00 p.m. members of the Temiskaming OPP responded to a report of an explosion near Tonomo Lake Road, north of Marten River.

Police attended the scene and observed a large hole in the ground where the Trans Canada Pipeline had ruptured. A search of the area was conducted, there were no injuries and the area was secured by police.

The Temiskaming OPP is remaining at the scene for security purposes. The National Energy Board members and the Transportation Safety Board members are attending from Calgary, Alberta as the cause of the rupture is still under investigation.

The OPP requests the public not to attend the scene as this investigation is still continuing.
