Vehicle engulfed in flames following Highway 17 MVC

Beaucage Township – North Bay OPP, North Bay Ambulance, West Nipissing Ambulance, West Nipissing Fire Department, West Nipissing Police Service and Northeast OPP Traffic Technical Collision Investigation officers responses to a serious collision involving three motor vehicles on Sunday, September 27th, 2009 at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Highway 17 in Beaucage Township. The collision resulted in the closure of Highway 17 between Sturgeon Falls and North Bay for over seven hours.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Kenneth McNAMARA of Sudbury was travelling eastbound when it crossed the centre line sideswiping the westbound vehicle being operated by Marie GERMAIN also of Sudbury before colliding head on with another westbound vehicle being operated by Nicole ROBINSON of Kanata. Witnesses at the scene provided assistance to ROBINSON whose vehicle was engulfed in flames.

GERMAIN suffered minor injuries while McNAMARA and ROBINSON were transported by ambulance to the North Bay General Hospital. ROBINSON suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and McNAMARA suffered critical non-life threatening injuries.
