Today, Ontario Northland's Commission Chair, Ted Hargreaves, announced the retirement of Mr. Steve Carmichael as President and CEO.

Mr. Hargreaves expressed his appreciation for the many years of dedication and leadership that Steve Carmichael brought and continues to provide to Ontario Northland. Mr. Carmichael will retire next spring following the outcome of a succession search.

"On behalf of the Commission, I extend our deepest gratitude to Steve and his family. Steve has provided a solid vision and selfless dedication to our organization. The Commission is indebted to Steve for his extraordinary years of commitment. We wish him a happy and fulfilling retirement." said Hargreaves.

Mr. Carmichael began his career at Ontario Northland in 1972 as a summer student. He was appointed as Treasurer in 1983 and held a number of positions of increasing responsibility including Vice President Finance and Administration and Vice President Rail Services. Mr. Carmichael was appointed President and CEO in 2004.

Mr. Carmichael holds a designation as a Chartered Accountant, a Masters of Business Administration from Queen's University, and an Honours Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
