Death is coming to Mattawa next week and bringing with him a cast of quirky, gender bending characters all played by the well known sketch comedy group Kids in the Hall.

Although it has been fifteen years since the original five Kids in the Hall, Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson, have been in front of the cameras together, they are glad to be back.

"We have thought about reuniting on television for years, but we've all had a lot of personal projects and weren't sure about how we wanted to come back together - we didn't necessarily want to come back and do the same things all over again. Then this idea for a small town murder mystery occurred to me and seemed loaded with possibilities for the kinds of things we like to explore, " said McCulloch.

Death Comes To Town is an eight-part comic murder mystery. When Death gets off the Greyhound bus in small town Shuckton, Ontario, the entire town is drawn in when one of its most distinguished citizens is found murdered. As a suspect is arrested and the trial plays out, the entire town is affected and its dark secrets are unraveled and exposed.

Although the principal photography for the film was done in North Bay, location shots are also being filmed here in Mattawa. Various locations from Main Street to Bissett Street have been chosen as background for several scenes of the project. The shooting schedule in Mattawa is set for September 21 to September 25.

"The filming of these locations is all exterior and would start at approximately 7:00 a.m. and completes at approximately 11:00 p.m.,"said Peter Boboras, Location Manager.

"We realize that we are guests in your town and hope that our filming will be completed with minimal inconvenience to you," said Boboras.

He said they will also be filming interior scenes in the former Mattawa General Hospital site.

Kids in the Hall have also sent out a general casting call. Local residents will have the unique opportunity to act as extras on the location shoot next week. Fifty have already answered the call to play police officers, townspeople, pallbearers and be part of the funeral crowd. However, Suzanne Cheriton says they could use a few more extras for the shoot.

After next week's location shoot in Mattawa, filming will continue in North Bay until early October with the broadcast date set for January 2010.

Death Comes To Town is produced by Accent Entertainment-KITH Productions Limited in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and with participation of the Canadian Television Fund, Northern Ontario Heritage Fund and Northern Ontario Media Fund.
