The North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce would like to broaden our school start date survey to invite input from the general public, parents, students, teachers and other stakeholders in education.

To-date, members of the Chamber of Commerce have provided us with information on the economic impact that the early start to the school year, prior to Labour Day, has had on their businesses. However, after many comments from the public that they too are concerned about the early start date, we feel that it is appropriate to invite input from a broader audience, since it appears that the School Boards will be considering starting school prior to Labour Day again next year.

President Sean Lawlor stated “by participating in this survey, business and other stakeholder views on this important issue will be heard, since we propose to prepare a report for all of the regional school boards on this matter, following the collection of our data.”
Concerned citizens, teachers, other representatives in the education sector, parents, students and the public in general can provide their comments via the survey listed on the Chamber’s website at www.northbaychamber.com – on the main page there is a link to the survey in the top right corner.

All Chamber members were forwarded the Business Survey link and we thank the many companies that provided their comments to-date; however, if you are a business owner who is not a Chamber member, yet you are interested in providing comments and would like to be included in the business survey, please contact Patti Carr at the Chamber office at [email protected] and we will forward you the Business Survey link.
