News Release

This year well known Nugget Reporter Dave Dale is having his "curly locks" sheared by Ray Vanier of Ray's Hairstyling to raise money for cancer research, in conjunction with this year's Terry Fox Run.

Dale reports that he's been growing the hair for about two years. However, when Dave's son let his much longer hair go in February for another fundraiser, he decided to follow his son's lead.

The reason he picked the Terry Fox Run as a cause to support stems from the inspiration Terry Fox gave to all Canadians to do whatever they can, and that every little bit helps.

Dale admits, "I've always felt guilty when covering Terry Fox Run events as a reporter that I've never actually walked the talk, even when I coordinated a run in Kapuskasing while a Kinsmen in 1991.

"Sacrificing my locks in the spirit of Terry Fox is a small thing. I hope it leads to other people doing bigger things to help find cures for cancer."

Join in the Terry Fox Run, then come along to the Rotary Shelter noon to be among the first to see how Dave looks with short hair! You don't want to miss the "Before and After" looks.

Registration for the September 13 Run begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Rotary Shelter, warm-up at 8:30 for a 9:00 start. Refreshments will be served beginning at 10:00.
