Credit union puts new spin on North Photo Calendar Contest

NORTH BAY - Back-to-school time is just around (already underway in North Bay)the corner and Northern Credit Union is honouring kids this September with the launch of their first Northern Kids Calendar Contest.

The contest is a new take to Northern Credit Union's well-known Real North Photo Calendar Contest, encouraging children to express northern beauty by drawing their favourite place in the community. The initiative kicks-off the back-to-school and RESP seasons, with entrants eligible to win one of three $1,000 RESP contributions from Northern Credit Union.

"We wanted to do something different but that still represented our focus on family and education," said Al Suraci, CEO of Northern Credit Union. "Post-secondary education has never been more important than it is today in providing job opportunities for young people and we are committed to helping our members plan financially for this important investment."

The contest with depictions of northern views through the eyes of local children begins September 8 and runs through to November 2. To enter the contest, or for more information, parents can contact their local Northern Credit Union branch or visit www.northernkidscalendar.com. Twelve drawings will be featured in the 2010 Northern Kids & Communities Calendar.
