There have been no new fires reported in the East Fire Region within the last 24 hours. Parry Sound 17 has been called out.

The forest fire hazard in the region is low to moderate.

FireRanger crews and support staff have completed their tornado clean up efforts in Vaughan, Ontario and some personnel from Vaughan have been deployed to join other MNR workers in the Durham area where they are expected to remain into the weekend.

A total of 138 FireRanger crews and support staff are planned for return today to Ontario from British Columbia, leaving 93 MNR personnel in B.C.

On a provincial note, fire season contracts for seasonal FireRangers are ending over the next two weeks. Following that, approximately 100 crews will be left in Ontario for the balance of the fire season as well as access to additional contract crews if needed. Resources are adequate for the current and expected needs in the province.

Always remember to be FireSmart http://www.ontario.ca/fireprevention.

If you're planning a campfire this weekend, remember to pick a designated campfire pit if available or choose a safe site on bare rock or soil, keep the fire small, never leave it unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving the site.
