Mayor Victor Fedeli, Councillor Mac Bain, Councillor Tom Graham and Councillor Tanya Vrebosch-Merry will be one of more than 1600 delegates at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario's 2009 AMO Conference at the Westin Ottawa Hotel, August 17th to 19th, 2009.

For more than 100 years, Ontario’s largest municipal conference has united municipal, provincial and federal officials to work collectively to overcome municipal challenges and plan for the future.

This year’s program features about 50 plenary sessions and workshops, and more than 90 speakers, reflecting the broad scope of municipal responsibilities. Priority topics include Canada`s economic outlook and local economic development, harmonized tax, property tax assessment, rural schools and health care closures, waste diversion, infrastructure, and green energy.

Mayor Fedeli and Councillors Bain, Graham, and Vrebosch-Merry are particularly interested in sessions related to Accessibility Legislation & Impact on Municipalities, NOHFC Funding, Coastal Communities – Infrastructure Solution, and Affordable Housing.

An abbreviated conference program can be downloaded from AMO’s Website at www.amo.on.ca. Conference news releases, fact sheets and the speaking notes from key presenters will be posted on AMO’s media web page throughout the duration of the conference at www.amo.on.ca/media.

AMO is a non-profit organization representing almost all of Ontario’s 444 municipal governments. AMO supports strong and effective municipal government in Ontario and promotes the value of municipal government as a vital and essential component of Ontario and Canada’s political system.
