Reports indicate that TeleTech Holdings Inc. on Lakeshore Drive will shut down operations in the city on October 31st.

The move will leave about 190 employees out of work.

TeleTech employees received the news on Friday as they were called in by groups and informed that the American client ‘Sprint’ no longer requires Teletech’s services due to an expected a drop in call volumes.

Although the official notice came as a shock employees say since TeleTech announced the layoff of 95 fulltime workers in November things have been shaky.

The company has had cuts system wide including operations in Timmins, Trenton and Orillia. The Trenton operation will close Aug. 31st while layoff notices effective July 31st for 500 TeleTech workers in Orillia.

The local branch, which has been in operation in the city for eight years, is actively seeking new business to keep the doors open.
