Ontario’s third dispatch to British Columbia, for the month of July, arrived Wednesday July 29 bringing the number of Ontario forest fire personnel in BC to 337.

The fourth dispatch this month is scheduled for Saturday and will bring the total number to approximately 570, the highest number of Ontario FireRangers and support staff ever in BC at one time.

The Saturday departure from Regional Forest Fire Management Centres in Sudbury and Dryden will total over 230, the largest single dispatch to BC this fire season. The dispatch includes another Incident Management Team to join the two from Ontario already in place in BC.

Within Ontario, there has been one new fire reported in the East Fire Region within the last 24 hours. Sault Ste. Marie 8 was reported at 0.1 hectares and has been called out.

There are currently no active fires in the region.

The fire hazard for the East Fire Region is low with a few small, scattered pockets of moderate hazard in the central portion of the region.
