Hearst – On Sunday, the 26th of July 2009, Officers of the Hearst OPP Detachment received a report of an attempted abduction, at the Ranch du Lac Campground, located in Casgrain Township, north of the Town of Hearst.

A police investigation began immediately revealing that at approximately 7:30 am, on Sunday, the 26th of July an unknown man attempted to lure a youth into a suspicious motor vehicle. The youth ran from the vehicle remaining safe.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying this male driver and his vehicle. The male driver is described as being a Caucasian male, middle aged, with short black hair, dark eyebrows, and French speaking. He was reported to have been wearing a white t-shirt at the time of this incident.

The suspect vehicle is described as being a white minivan or SUV style vehicle with a black bug deflector on the front of the vehicle.

This investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted by members of the Hearst-Kapuskasing Crime Unit. Parents are reminded about the importance of ‘street-proofing’ their children by reminding them not to accept rides without parental permission and walking with a friend.
