RIDE stop results in drug charges

North Bay OPP officers seized a large amount of cocaine on Sunday, July 26th, 2009 during a traffic stop on Highway 17 in the city of North Bay, Ontario.

Shortly after 10 p.m., two North Bay OPP officers were conducting RIDE checks on Highway 17 East near the bypass in the city of North Bay. A vehicle check resulted in the seizure of 172 g of cocaine with an estimated street value of $18,500.

Charged is Francois A. CHARLEBOIS, 22 years old, of Cantley, Quebec and Patrick G. DESLAURIERS, 33 years old of Bowman, Quebec. Both are facing charges of:

• Possession for the Purpose Schedule I – Cocaine as per CDSA 5(2);

• Possession Schedule I - Other Drugs as per CDSA 4(1); and with

• Unauthorized Possession of Weapon as per CC 91(2).
CHARLEBOIS and DESLAURIERS are being held for a bail hearing appearance today in North Bay.
