St. Charles – In the early afternoon of June 21st officers were called to investigate a sudden death at a residence on Hwy 535 in St. Charles. A post mortem examination on June 22nd revealed the 49 year old resident died of natural causes, however during the investigation police discovered the residence and property were being used to grow marihuana.

Officers from the Noelville OPP Cluster, the Sudbury OPP Drug Enforcement Unit, the Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit and the Sudbury OPP Crime Unit seized 660 thousand dollars worth of Marihuana plants, 15 thousand dollars worth of drug growing equipment and an illegally stored rifle. An investigation into the marihuana grow is still ongoing.

The OPP would like to remind residents that if they see suspicious activity or plants that they suspect are marihuana, DO NOT GO NEAR THE AREA. Call your local police, the Ontario Provincial Police or Crime Stoppers.
