Get in on the fun and celebrate Parks Day in Ontario

Visitors to Ontario's provincial parks can choose from dozens of unique and fun events taking place on Saturday, July 18 – Canada's Parks Day.

This national event showcases parks and historic sites across Canada. Details of other national events can be found at www.parksday.ca.

More than 40 provincial parks in Ontario will hold special events on July 18, including:

▪ Darlington – take a guided walk on McLaughlin Bay and find out about Oshawa's three coastal wetlands

▪ Sandbanks – bring your kids to a children's program to learn about the fascinating reptiles and amphibians at the park

▪ MacGregor Point – join park naturalists for Animal Olympics to try to break records set by park animals

▪ Six Mile Lake – explore the moon, planets and constellations with local astronomer Tom Stiff

▪ Marten River – enjoy Lumberjack Days with logging competitions, demonstrations, live entertainment, pancake breakfasts and prizes

▪ Sleeping Giant – sing along with musician David Archibald and his interactive songs about parks.
There are 330 provincial parks in Ontario; more than 100 of these are “operating” parks (with visitor facilities) and 19 are open all year long.
