Kiss will play the Soo

According to KISS front man Gene Simmons Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario is ‘guaranteed’ a spot on the upcoming KISS tour.

Simmons told the Ottawa Sun that the Sault placed third in a North America-wide online contest that would determine where select tour spots would be based on fan voting demands.

Voting ended last week, with the Sault racking up 11,315 votes (with help from BayToday readers) a few thousand behind Oshawa’s 14,569 votes and the 12,913 votes that Winnipeg secured.

Simmons told the Sun that while all three communities will have ‘guaranteed’ concert spot, tour dates will not necessarily be in order of the results.

“Clearly, these cities are out of their minds,” Simmons told the Sun.

"Gee, I wish I was Canadian.... There’s just a purity of heart up there. I don’t know how else to put it."

Simmons' life partner Canadian-born former Playboy Playmate Shannon Tweed, who once lived in the Ottawa area, will be at the Ottawa Bluesfest July 15th when KISS plays the festival.
