On Monday, June 29, 59 Ontario fire personnel returned from Alberta. They were dispatched for two weeks to assist with forest fire fighting efforts. The remaining 37 fire personnel are set to return from Alberta this week.

There have been no new fires reported in the East Fire Region on June 30. Currently there are 13 active fires in the region. For more information please click here to view the active fires map.

The East Fire Region will be under the influence of a low pressure system resulting in cloudy conditions with rain and possible thunderstorms. Due to cool, wet weather the fire hazard will be low across the region.

Regardless of the fire hazard always check your site before you light. Take a walk around the area; dry, crunchy vegetation can be an indication of a localized dry pocket. Awareness of your surroundings is important when it comes to fire safety. For more FireSmart tips visit Ontario.ca/fireprevention.
