West Nipissing - Mayor Joanne Savage today announced a long term marketing strategy for the Municipality, outlined the importance of the Municipality’s “Joie de vivre” messaging and unveiled new municipal welcome signage.

“This day has been a long time coming,” said her worship “our Economic Development Authority, chaired by Royal Poulin, has been working extremely hard on this initiative.”

Economic development is a major component of modern municipal operations with every community facing challenges regarding long term sustainable growth. Located between North Bay and Sudbury and nestled along the north shore of Lake Nipissing, West Nipissing has a great deal to offer.

The creation of a three year targeted marketing and communication plan was part of phase one of this current initiative and was undertaken with the assistance of TWG Communications and Bay Consulting.

“We have worked with many municipalities throughout our history and I can tell you this is one of the most
comprehensive approaches of any of the communities we have partnered with. It has been a privilege to work with West Nipissing and we look forward to a continuing relationship as the Economic Development Authority moves forward with the implementation of the recommendations” said Theo Margaritis, VP of TWG Communications.

“Our strength is our people,” continued Mayor Savage, “we have access to an abundance of natural beauty and natural resources but it is our human resources and open and friendly attitude that attract people to our community."

The long term strategy focuses on an enhanced presence in the region.

Royal Poulin, EDA chair said, “With bigger lots and lower taxes West Nipissing is a great choice for a bedroom community for folks from Sudbury and North Bay. We are an excellent choice for retirees seeking a safe community with accessible health care, unique retail and close proximity to larger markets. West Nipissing also offers an abundance of recreational and adjacent crown land to be explored and enjoyed by everyone.”

The future is very bright for West Nipissing and ongoing, and yet to be announced, developments continue to add value to the community.

The unveiling of new welcome signage will ensure high visibility for the travelling public. “People will know when they have arrived in the best community in Northern Ontario,” Said Poulin, “welcome signs are planned for the four key municipal entry points.”

The welcome signs have been professionally designed and will be going to tender shortly. Marc Gagnon, Director of Community Services said, “These are structural elements and not billboards. They have been designed and will be constructed to serve for many years.” Currently the signs are slated to be made of brushed aluminium on a concrete base.

“West Nipissing is known as a great place to live where everybody, everyday embraces all that life has to offer. Joie de vivre is the very essence of what living in West Nipissing is all about. Those who come here see and feel it right away and it is the joy of life that plays such a fundamental part in our continuing growth,” added mayor Savage.
