The Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing hosted a Celebrity Waiter Night as part of their annual fundraising efforts at Churchill’s Restaurant last night. This year’s event proved to be a huge success and a great time as celebrity waiters did their best to deliver hot food, cold drinks, and service with a smile to a crowded house.

This year’s celebrities included: Nipissing MPP/Minister of Tourism Monique Smith; Mayor Vic Fedeli; former NHL superstar Vitali Yachmenev; Fire Chief Grant Love; Police Chief Paul Cook; Chamber of Commerce President Sean Lawlor; Canadore College President Barbara Taylor; new Nipissing President Dr. Lesley Lovett-Doust; City Councillor Daryl Vaillancourt; Man-About-Town Lachlan McLachlan; and radiant “Lady in Red” Chantal Rota.

“This event is always a great time for us and it is fun to see so many of our local celebrities and communities leaders working so hard on our behalf,” said Community Counselling Centre Executive Director Alan McQuarrie.

The event, which also featured a live auction, is a fundraiser for the Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing, a local group who help children, couples, families, and aboriginal people deal with the myriad personal problems that might affect us at any given moment.

While the event is designed as light-hearted and fun, it also presents the Community Counselling Centre with an ideal opportunity to explain who they are and why their services are important.

“This really is an excellent opportunity for our organization to reach a large audience in a way that is both entertaining and informative,” McQuarrie explained.

Last night’s event raised over $19,000 in support of the Community Counselling Centre’s unfunded community program.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our celebrity waiters and all the people who attended this event; we re truly grateful for their generosity and support,” Community Counselling Centre Board member Derek Thompson said.
