Vehicle stop results in drug charges for two

Almaguin Highlands - On the 10th of June 2009, members of the Ontario Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Section assisted by officers of the Ontario Provincial Police Almaguin Highlands Detachment conducted a vehicle stop in Strong Township.

As a result of the investigation, a quantity of Cannabis marihuana was seized. Two persons (2) were arrested and have been charged.

The potential street value of the seizure is over $20,000.00.

Charged:

1. Alwin SQUIRE (age 27yrs) of Scarborough.

• Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act – (Cannabis marihuana).

• Breach of Recognizance contrary to section 145 of the Criminal Code.

• Held for bail hearing at Provincial Court of Justice, Parry Sound on June 12th 2009.


2. Samantha DESCHAMPS (age 20yrs) of East York.

• Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act – (Cannabis marihuana).

• Released via Promise to Appear with Undertaking.
