The Near North District School Board and the Nipissing – Parry Sound Catholic District School Board Business Subject Council announce results from the OBEA (Ontario Business Educators Association) Accounting Contest.

Locally, thirteen grade 11 accounting students and nine grade 12 accounting students were invited to participate in the province wide OBEA contest by their secondary school teachers. Students from West Ferris Secondary School, Chippewa Secondary School, and St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Secondary School were represented locally in the competition.

Provincially, approximately 450 students participated in the grade 12 exam and over 850 students participated in the grade 11 exam. District results are as follows:

Grade 12 Accounting Contest
1. Stephanie Dickson – West Ferris SS
2. Tabitha Brown – West Ferris SS
3. Cheyenne Bowyer – West Ferris SS

Grade 11 Accounting Contest
1. Kirsten Cantin – Chippewa SS
2. Brent Moore – St. Joseph Scollard Hall SS
3. Ashley Zen – West Ferris SS

Each spring, OBEA provides its secondary school teacher members with a variety of student contests related to all areas of the Ontario Business and Computer Studies Curriculum. The accounting contests are developed and sponsored by two of OBEA’s corporate sponsors, the CMA and CGA accounting organizations.
