TWG Communications has been rewarded with silver and bronze awards by the 2009 Summit International Creative Awards judges for its creative development of the Mon Choix Smart 2009 Collège Boréal television commercial and the North Bay and District Hospital Foundation (NBDHF) Cardiac and Stroke Case for Support.

“We are very honoured to be recognized by this year’s panel of Summit International Awards judges on these two great projects.” Donna Backer, lead account manager for the winning projects at TWG Communications. “Both clients presented unique challenges, however the underlying goal for both Collège Boréal and the NBDHF was to stand out amongst the competition and be different” added Backer.

The Summit International Creative Awards recognizes and celebrates the creative accomplishments of small and medium sized advertising agencies and other creative groups. For over fifteen years, the competition has established itself as the premier arbiter of creative excellence for firms of this size.

“Winning a Summit Creative Award is a significant accomplishment. The combination of our excellent judges and the tough judging criteria ensures that only deserving entries receive Summit recognized.” Said Jocelyn Luciano, Executive Director for the Summit International Awards. “It was an exciting year to watch and listen to the judges’ debate the details of individual entries. Making the decisions of which ones receive the top spots is hard.”

“Most postsecondary institutions tend to be conservative with marketing tactics. Collège Boréal specifically and clearly articulated a vision that their TV spot would stand out from other postsecondary ads, be different and unique,” said Donna Backer, lead account manager on the project for TWG Communications. “They took a risk to be unconventional and it paid off. We are very proud of this commercial and honoured for the award recognition” Backer added.

The main character of the Collège Boréal spot is a Smart Car. The character was essentially brought to life playing the role as a student. The Smart Car size allowed the Collège Boréal Sudbury campus to serve as the filming location. The spot was able to highlight the modern architecture, spacious campus learning environments and small class sizes. The spot aired in Northern Ontario and can be viewed at www.twgcommunications.com

“We are very pleased to have collaborated with our colleagues at TWG Communications and are elated for this great accomplishment,” said Claudia-Ann Malette, Marketing Director at Collège Boréal. “Collège Boréal is unique and we wanted to market it as such. The TV spot developed in collaboration with TWG Communications and our marketing team is a hit with our target market. The commercial was a key component in the college’s MonchoixSmart.ca campaign. Our enrollment has increased significantly from the last few years and we are quite excited that this initiative be recognized in such a fashion,” added Malette.

“We were extremely pleased to once again work with the NBDHF and develop an intriguing and effective marketing tool” said Backer. “The goal for this was two-fold; educate readers of the personal experiences of survivors of heart-attack and stroke, and bring awareness to the capital needs for our community’s healthcare” Backer added.

The clean, colourful and creative package included a 12 page booklet, a bilingual executive summary and
unique folder to hold any other information the foundation wished to include in their request for support of area businesses, corporations, service clubs and individuals. The swirling tornado of meaningful family images on the cover symbolized the devastating and chaotic experience of a heart attack or stroke.

“North Bay and District Hospital is recognized as a leader and a centre of excellence in its district role for the treatment of stroke and heart disease. Our friends at TWG Communications understood our need to produce topnotch, cost effective marketing tools to stand out in the market” said Lois Krause, Executive Director of the North Bay and District Hospital Foundation. “This case for support clearly enhanced our ability to raise the funds to help our hospital to provide more advanced levels of care for the people of North Bay and area” added Krause.

“On behalf of the community we congratulate our friends at TWG Communications for this great accomplishment and look forward to working with them in the future to collaborate on another winning project” added Krause.
