Does your child find the mechanics of a car fascinating? Maybe he or she is more interested in preparing a delicious meal? Will learning the basics of electrical wiring, or creating a variety of wooden items inspire your child to dream of future possibilities?

Skills Canada – Ontario, in partnership with Canadore College, Hydro One and the Government of Ontario, is offering the Skills Work!® Summer Camp program for students
entering grades 7 and 8. The week‐long day camp runs from August 10th‐14th, 9am to 4pm, at Canadore College, and offers students the amazing opportunity of experiencing
hands‐on activities in the skilled trades and technologies‐based work force. Skill development workshops are hosted by local professionals and will allow the students to
perform hands‐on, industry based tasks. Previous workshops have allowed students to perform such tasks as changing tires, laying bricks, preparing culinary dishes, learning
electrical wiring and fabricating wooden items. In addition to the workshops, students will tour local industries and see first‐hand the careers that are available within our community. Students will meet employees and may just catch a glimpse of what an average work day is really like for those working in the trades.

By joining in the fun offered at this summer day camp at Canadore College, your child’s dreams of future possibilities may truly include “skills that work!”

The cost of the Skills Work!® Summer Camp program is $175 per student. For more information and online registration, please visit the Skills Canada – Ontario website at www.skillsontario.com.
