Nipissing University will bestow honorary degrees upon seven individuals at this year’s convocation ceremonies in North Bay and Brantford; the university will also formally install its new president, Dr. Lesley Lovett- Doust in a special ceremony during the Saturday, June 6, convocation.

The university is proud to recognize the following individuals with its highest honour: Joseph Boyden, Grand Council Chief John Beaucage, Christian Fortin, Christine Fortin, His Honour David Onley, Stephen Lewis, and Roberta Jamieson.

In North Bay, convocation for the faculty of education will take place June 3 and 4, and for the faculty of arts and science on June 5 and 6. Students from the recently created faculty of applied and professional studies will also graduate on June 6. Convocation for the regional campus in Brantford will take place on June 10.

“This is certainly going to be a special convocation ceremony. We are extremely excited to be able to recognize such a remarkable group of individuals,” said Dennis Mock, president and vice- chancellor of Nipissing University. “Our honorary degree recipients have achieved a great deal in their life and career, while enriching many other lives along the way. Nipissing University is tremendously proud and honoured that they are accepting our highest mark of distinction. As well, Nipissing will be installing Dr. Lovett- Doust as president, which is a truly momentous occasion. She is an extraordinary person and will be a wonderful leader for this institution.”

- Wednesday, June 3, 9:30 a.m.: Christian and Christine Fortin, Faculty of Education, Primary / Junior division

- Wednesday, June 3, at 2:00 p.m.: His Honour David Onley, Faculty of Education, Junior / Intermediate division

- Thursday, June 4, 9:30 a.m.: Stephen Lewis, Faculty of Education, Intermediate / Senior division and Master of Education

- Friday, June 5, 9:30 a.m.: Joseph Boyden, Faculty of Arts and Science, and Concurrent Education

- Friday, June 5, 2:00 p.m.: Grand Council Chief John Beaucage, Faculty of Arts and Science and

- Saturday, June 6, 9:30 a.m.: Installation of President Dr. Lesley Lovett- Doust, Faculty of Arts and Science and Faculty of Applied and Professional Studies.

Brantford

- Wednesday, June 10, 2:00 p.m.: Roberta Jamieson, Nipissing Concurrent Bachelor of Education program, the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts
