On Thursday, May 21st the community of Ferris Glen Public School is invited to attend a special presentation by Tribal Thunder. Tribal Thunder is a “drumming” group and they will be presenting an Anti-Bullying message to all who can attend.

Tribal Thunder was started in 1997 by Oscar De Los Santos who wanted to do something to make the world a better place. He decided to use music and specifically, drums. “Of all the musical instruments in the world, the drum is found in every culture on the planet. It is the unifying heartbeat behind all music; the heart beat of life and the pulse of creation”, states Oz as Oscar is affectionately known by all. In the year 2000, Oz joined with Joan Bell and the two began to collaborate to bring their unique form of entertainment to schools.

The Anti-Bullying message will focus on the power of words, respect, courtesy and cooperation. Students and adults will participate in an interactive drum circle. Participants will learn the power of their voice, how to exercise it and become responsible with their personal power. Emphasis is placed on the difference between hearing and listening, sharing and communicating within the community.

A special pizza party will begin at 5:30 for students and their families. The public presentation begins at 6:00 for all members of the community who wish to attend. This performance is possible because Ferris Glen received a Parent Involvement Grant from the Ministry of Education.
