With the recent attention that credit card companies are getting over high interest rates and escalating merchant fees being charged to companies accepting credit cards, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Sean Lawlor, says that “there has never been a better time to join the Chamber of Commerce, to take advantage of our credit card Merchant Rate Discounts for Chamber members.”

Members of the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce are entitled to apply to receive lower Merchant Rates than some businesses might be able to secure on their own. Reduced merchant rates are one of the many benefits of Chamber membership.

“We are working hard to assist our members every way we can during these difficult times and this is a huge benefit to any company that accepts credit cards as a method of payment. We estimate that a business doing $200,000 in credit card sales can save as much as $3000 per year, just by being a Chamber member and taking advantage of this benefit. Now those are facts that make sense and dollars,” Lawlor stated.

The Chamber has recently developed a marketing plan to promote the many benefits of membership. Among them are affordable Group Insurance Plans, Savings of up to 80% on more than 7500 Grand and Toy products, The Esso Business Card Program, which provides savings of 3 cents per litre on fuel purchases and many other member to member discounts. These benefits are above and beyond the many networking opportunities provided through events such as the Chamber’s monthly Business After Hours functions and other events hosted throughout the year.

“We’re here to support our members. If there are issues that our members feel we should be dealing with, I want to hear from you,” stated Lawlor.
