Mattawa men arrested for causing a disturbance

On Friday, April 17th, 2009 at approximately 11:30 p.m., Mattawa OPP received a complaint of two males fighting with 2x4’s on Mattawan Street in Mattawa, Ontario. Police attended and as a result of their investigation, Richard LAROCQUE, 20 years old, and Kurtis BELANGER, 18 years old, both of Mattawa were arrested.

LAROCQUE was charged with:

• Assault with A Weapon, as per s. 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, as per s. 88 of CC;
• Cause Disturbance as per s. 175(1)(a) of CC;
• Carrying concealed weapon as per s. 90 of the CC;
• Being intoxicated in public place as per s. 31(4) of the Liquor Licence Act (LLA).

BELANGER was charged with:

• Cause Disturbance as per s. 175(1)(a) of the CC;
• Person under 19 years consuming liquor, as per s.30 (8) of the LLA.

Both were held for bail hearing scheduled on Monday, April 20th, 2009 in North Bay.
