23 year old charged with attempted murder

On the 11th of April during the evening hours it is alleged that a man who had been standing on a rear porch of a home in the 300 block of Chippewa St. W. was challenged by the female owner.

It is further alleged that this man then commenced to fight with the woman all the while pushing his way in.

The woman’s adult daughter came to intercede and it is then that the attacker turned his attention on the daughter and commenced to choke her. The fight continued while the attackers threatened death to the female being chocked. It is at this time that the male occupant within the home is awoken and came to help his family and began to fight off the intruder while two grandchildren were within the house.

This man was not known to family members.

Officers of the North Bay Police attended and found the attacker still fighting with the male homeowner.

He was arrested after a struggle with the officers.

Mathew GROVE 23 years old of No Fixed Address is charged with Attempted Murder, Assault, and Aggravated Assault, Unlawfully in a Dwelling House, Resist Arrest and Breach of a Recognizance. He is being held in custody for a bail hearing. He is also wanted by the London Police Service on unrelated criminal charges.

Victims were treated for their injuries at the North Bay Hospital and then released.
