ONR derailment under investigation

Members of the Kirkland Lake OPP are at the scene of a train derailment at the ONR railway crossing on Highway 650 approximately two kilometres east of Highway 112 in Boston Township. The area is south of Kirkland Lake.

The southbound train engine and six box cars came off the tracks after coming into collision with an eastbound snow plow. There were no injuries to any of the involved persons either on the plow or the train. Ontario Northland Railway officials are at the scene. Also Ministry of the Environment officials are attending the location as a precautionary measure.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
